A Sober Russia
With the help of members of our club (before our club even existed), the Center for the Prevention of Dangerous Addictions among Youths, a not-for-profit organization, was founded. This organization continues to function with the support of the Sochi Rotary Club. Its work includes:
- conducting lectures in schools about prevention of drug abuse, teen pregnancy, and alcoholism;
- working with juvenile criminals in centers and youth homes;
- providing psychological counseling to families dealing with drug abuse and alcoholism;
- developing manuals of methods for teaching such lessons and coordinating similar work in other cities in Russia.
The center's staff includes around 15 full-time personnel. Today this program has spread to 26 cities in Russia through close cooperation with the Ministry of Education. Within the past three years, this program has reached over 6,000 students in the institutions where children and young people study, receive rehabilitation, and spend their free time.
In the past few years, the Sochi Rotary Club has gained valuable experience in working together with businessmen and social workers, experience which we will gladly share. The Prevention of Dangerous Abuses Among Youths project and the Checkpoints of Life program for schoolchildren strive to reach every child and teenager with the message that life is valuable and a good career choice is important. These programs' mission is to spur young people to value their lives, to make plans for their futures, and to understand that they can lose all of this should they take the wrong path in life. It's easier to prevent drug addiction than to cure it. Join us in developing these programs in your city!

Обучение в средней школе – важнейшая часть развития ребенка. А как быть, если ребенок не может дойти до школы ? Как быть если ребенок инвалид ?
В России существует программа школьного образования для детей с ограниченными физическими возможностями через Интернет. Для того, чтобы ребенок мог воспользоваться такой системой обучения у него должен быть компьютер. Но не всегда родители детей инвалидов могут позволить себе приобрести необходимое оборудование.
Ротари клуб Сочи приобрел 2 ноутбука. И 26.05.09 состоялось вручение ноутбуков детям в Управлении образования города Сочи.
